Miami Dolphins star wide receiver, Tyreek Hill, found himself in hot water on his way to Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday when he was pulled over by a Miami-Dade police officer. The officer estimated that Hill was driving about 20 miles per hour over the speed limit, prompting the traffic stop that would lead to a series of events that left Hill handcuffed for 15 minutes.
According to the citations released on Tuesday, Hill was not arrested but was issued two traffic citations for careless driving and driving without a seat belt. The officer who pulled him over noted that the area was heavy with both car and foot traffic, contributing to the reckless driving charge.
At 30 years old, Hill now faces fines of around $300 for the two tickets, adding insult to injury. The police department also revealed the identity of the officer under investigation in the incident: Danny Torres, a veteran of 27 years on the force. Torres has been placed on administrative duties pending the outcome of the investigation.
In response to the incident, attorney for Torres released a statement demanding his immediate reinstatement, while critics, including Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus, are calling for the officers involved in the traffic stop to be fired.
The unfolding drama around Tyreek Hill’s traffic stop has captured the attention of the football world. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
