In a post-game interview, Cam Taylor-Britt stood by his earlier comments about the Washington Commanders’ offensive scheme, declaring, “I do not regret it.” The Cincinnati Bengals cornerback had sparked controversy by labeling their game plan a “college offense,” but he clarified that his words were not meant to be malicious. Despite facing backlash for his remarks, Taylor-Britt maintained his stance, admitting, “Yes, I can eat my words. But definitely we did take an ‘L’ today, as a team.”
Following a 38-33 loss to Washington, the team’s official X account took a subtle jab at Taylor-Britt with a tweet that read, “Not bad for a college offense.” This dig seemed to echo Taylor-Britt’s previous comments, where he had criticized rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels for only executing short and intermediate passes under offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury’s guidance. Taylor-Britt had raised eyebrows by suggesting that Daniels, the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, was limited in his role.
Kingsbury, however, claimed ignorance of Taylor-Britt’s statements last week, stating, “He’s entitled to his opinion.” The former Texas Tech and Arizona Cardinals head coach appeared unfazed by the cornerback’s critique, brushing it off as part of the game.
Meanwhile, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor distanced himself from Taylor-Britt’s criticism, insisting, “That’s not what we do.” When pressed about whether he had addressed the issue with Taylor-Britt privately, Taylor remained tight-lipped. The Nebraska alum had garnered attention for his outspoken remarks, but it seemed that the Bengals’ coaching staff was focused on moving past the controversy and regrouping for their next game.
